Ambotik  Curry is a classic favourite among the Goan folk. The curry has a deliciously sour, spicy, and tangy flavour. This is why it is named ‘Ambotik’ as ambot means sour and tik means spicy. It is usually accompanied with rice, bread, or sannas. Different types of fishes can be used such as kingfish, mackerel, shark, etc. This dish can be identified by its reddish-orange colour.




Red Chillies, Coriander, Black Pepper, Cloves, Cinnamon , Cummin seeds, Turmeric, etc.


For 1/2 Kg Fish preferably Shark, skate, Cat or box fish.

Add 1 tablespoon of Goan Ambotik Masala , 1 Big size onions, a piece of ginger, 6 flakes of garluc, 15gm Tamarind, 1 Tomato, Grind all to a fine paste. saute this mixture in 3 tablespoon of oil till mixture leaves the side of the pan. Add a cups of water and bring to boil. Add fish and cook till tender on slow fire. Add vinegar and salt to taste.
